About Me - As a Student, As a Blogger

Hello there readers!!

Thank you for visiting my blog!! Many of you may be experiencing the incredibly famous "I Need-To-Get-Started-On-My-College-Search-Syndrome", or you may just be wondering what SMC is all about. I empathize with either since it was just a year ago that I was in your same position, but fear not, my friends! The whole blogosphere is great for learning about a subject through the actual experiences of other people, and I (being the ever-so-proud SMC student that I am) will do my absolute best to fill you in on what it's like here at SMC!

But first... a little about me...

I'm Lauren. I've grown up in the Bronx, NY my whole life and I've absolutely loved it. When I tell people this, they often seem to think I'm really dangerous. I mean, I can't blame them given my 5"3 petite stature. Who wouldn't be afraid of me? But don't worry, I promise I'm really nice! I'm currently a Psychology Major and a Media/Journalism Minor. I love to sing, write, bake cupcakes, and help others (though I believe baking cupcakes and helping others goes hand in hand).

Around campus, I'm involved in the DREAM program in which I mentor children every Friday along with a bunch of other members, which really adds to the community of the program. I love to participate in VITA (campus ministry) events as well along with my friends Alex and Maura.

I've been a Vegetarian ever since I read my freshman summer assignment "Eating Animals" for St. Mike's, and now I've finally made it into the transition of being vegan! I LOVE my food, and I especially love finding random places around Burlington to eat! I've recently really gotten into Vegan baking, and I found that I have an extreme LOVE for baking cupcakes (and, well, eating them, too)!! Stick around and maybe I'll take you on a tour to my favorite place in Burlington, My Little Cupcake, and I'll also toss in a few recipes of my own!

Honestly, I feel I have grown so much in my two semesters here at St. Mike's, and I have my professors and the warm community of students to thank for that. I've truly enjoyed the learning experiences I have had through our liberal arts curriculum, and they've really gotten me to think about my life. Saint Mike's has made me committed to eating and living well and doing what I love. I don't think too many places foster that kind of development, so please, let me show you why I love St. Mike's and why I know you'll love it, too!
